Baco Mercat in Downtown LA (Pictures)

Downtown LA is on a high-speed food streak of most restaurants opened in an LA neighborhood in the past year. The Pie Hole just opened last month, and the latest is Bäco Mercat (408 S. Main St., 213-687-8808) in the Old Bank district. Chef Josef Centeno has created a signature flatbread sandwich called bäco. You can order it up with beef, pork, chicken, seafood, or vegetables.
