Chef Michael Voltaggio is kick-ass for many reasons. First, of course, because he was the last cook standing on Top Chef season six; he's also been a part of two notable restaurants, as the chef de cuisine at Pasadena's The Langham Huntington Hotel and executive chef at José Andrés' The Bazaar.

Now, the superstar chef is taking all that experience and starting his first solo restaurant called Ink on 8360 Melrose Ave. It will feature new American cuisine in an artsy, accessible scene, with the main dining room accommodating most guests, and an adjacent area granting front-row access to Michael and his cooks preparing prix-fixe dishes. There is no opening date as of now, but I hear at the end of April or early May. Stay tuned for details.
